Unwind by Neal Shusterman
This was a book that I had to read for school as one of my assignments. At first I was quite hesitant to read this book as the last book that I read for school was awful. This book was not the type of thing that I usually read. How far in the future this is set isn't clear, but it is set in the United States. The premise of this book is that there was a war called the heartland war. The two sides of the war were pro choice and pro life. In order to appease both sides, an agreement was forced. The agreement states that you have to keep a child until the age of thirteen. Between the ages of thirteen and eighteen that child can be unwound. Both sides agreed to this, because it was stated that the child would still be alive. The process of unwinding is when they basically take a child apart while they are still alive and sell their parts to the people who are in need of those parts. For example, amputees who had lost a leg would pay for a new one from an unwind. The story follows three unwinds who are trying to escape so that they are not unwound, now as boring as this may sound, this book was well written and totally worth the money and time. Like I said before this story was good but not for the faint of heart. Some parts can get quite disturbing and quite graphic. This is a three part series and I definitely plan on reading the other two books so stay tuned for some more updates from me this month. :)
Hope you guys go read this,
Ally <3
